Illiteracy & innumeracy is endemic in South Africa in 2010

Did you know that 4 out of 5 children leave school in South Africa unable to read, write or do basic mathematics. This is a left over effect from the apartheid era when the ANC told children not to attend school as they felt that they were being brainwashed by the state.

Like many other bad things of that era they are behind us now;  but South Africa is left with the legacy of those times.

Adult illiteracy & innumeracy is endemic in South Africa and there is a big mountain to climb, but we have to start somewhere.

If you would like to help us in our project you can make a donation via PayPal.

The software cost £16 per disk.

If a UK school buys a copy of Mathbase, it is matched to a school In South Africa for free also.

Mathbase is being rewritten for web delivery, so the need for disks, will fall over time and distribution costs will be eliminated all together. We are getting there.

There are 6 disks in the set in total each covering different aspects of Mathematics.

Mathbase 1 is the keystone program that teaches students numbers 1 to 100 and then goes on to teach them number bonds or what we would know as adding up, or adding together different numbers.

Mathbase 2 goes the next step and teaches Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division and goes up to quite huge numbers.

We spent 3 years distributing this software in South Africa and now we need your help.

Please donate what you can. I know things are tough out there but these people need a hand up not a hand out. If you cannot afford to give anything that's OK too. Just the fact that you have read this has raised the consciousness level by one more person and that is always a good thing.

Thank you for your support.
